Pet Dental Care

An often overlooked yet important aspect of an animal’s health is their dental health. Neglected teeth, tongues, and gums all lead to a buildup of harmful bacteria, abscess formation, and in some severe cases, septic infections. As part of a routine visit, your veterinarian at Animal Medical Center of Charlottesville will examine your pet’s teeth, and gums for any obvious issues and, from there, may instruct you on improving your pet’s dental hygiene.

This may include daily brushings with special toothpaste, tasty treats to help clean the teeth and gum lines, and in some cases, medication to help heal troubled areas.

If you notice that your pet is having issues with decreased appetite, pain when chewing, and even aggressiveness, they may be suffering from tooth pain. Our staff is well-equipped to clean teeth, extract teeth and perform biopsies of any growths within the mouth or throat.
